Most of that is from my 2 stroke knowlege and I do know 4 stroke motors do not respond nearly as well to a tuned pipe or header. I guess the turbo adds a whole new set of factors to consider, but I still bet there is an optimum length for top end power and an optimum length for low end torque and this is another reason some header manifolds are so expensive. If you have made a whole bunch of headers and actually know which length is ideal for our engines, well that would be an important little piece of data to have.
Just like if you had a flow bench and a bunch of heads to port/polish. Somewhere in there is the perfect amount or size of the ports and bowls that gives the maximum flow without robbing too much low end power and drivability and knowing just how much to open them up and in what shape and how smooth would all be helpfull information. If you go too far on the ports, you may get good top end, but you might hurt the low end torque. Same idea I think.
Knowlege is power!
