According to Mark Warner in "Street Turbocharging" (July 2006),
"In contrast (to N/A exh systems), any scavenging in a turbocharged exhaust manifold is of secondary importance. In fact, scavenging is almost nonexistent in the design of most high performance turbo manifolds. The most important thing is to get the turbo spooling as soon and with as little backpressure as possible. On a turbocharged engine, it is much more important to create boost efficiently and quickly than it is to scavenge cylinders."
I have no idea why Aerohead apparently experienced something to the contrary!
