The 'scumbag unions'?

It seems that the upper management of Delphi is all set to receive 18 months of severance to the tune of millions of dollars. They asked for a 50% pay cut from the union but wouldn't touch their golden parachutes.
The array of problems faced by Delphi appears to have been crushing, amongst them the large promises and commitments made by management to the unions. To blame the unions (and slander them while you're at it) for the company's inability to constructively solve these problems (when they refused to act on good faith) is hardly fair - Delphi's appears to be a mutual problem between management and the unions. Ditto for GM. They've been acting like they still own 60% of the market for ages, and never should have agreed to the high benefits the unions, acting to maximize their worker's interests, asked for.
Of course, the company will propose to cure its ills by exporting work to China, thereby screwing much of the middle class of the upper Midwest while the execs retire to their mansions.
Anyway, I hope you just enjoyed your weekend (weekends off - thanks to unions), your 40-hour work week (thanks to unions), workplace safety (same, see the theme?), and vacation time (wait for it...thanks to unions!) Oh, and the higher wages paid to non-union employees in areas where unions are active. That too.
Unions aren't perfect, but neither is management!
