I`m thinking of living abroad with the boat no so much for the enjoyment, but seems like almost every post on the subject is telling me the overhead cost is pretty large. I had thought after the purchase of the boat the overhead cost would be next to nothing.

Sure the sail`s rip or ropes break but how often is that, 200 gallons of diesel would carry a hefty price, but on a sail boat how fast would it burn through it once every 4 to 5 months. There must be something I`m missing. Joining a club isn't an option at this juncture I hardly have time to sleep let alone any free time to speak of. I must be missing something with the excess over-head cost I don't see it.

I wouldn't be renting a boat slip, being I`d be anchored near some uncharted island scavenging all the bananas off the trees, I`d put a new meaning to the word survivor.
