I had about a dozen or so boats under contract. I would skipper an Islander 41 and another captain would skipper an Irwin 39 that we both hated to sail--it was a real pig. But it was a good boat for charters. The rest went bareboat.
Bristol and Cape Dory made some really solid cruisers back then. Not fast boats but safe, solid and meant for distance. Still a good number of them around New Enland.
