Saabnewbie,
My old ride was a Subaru Outback Sport so for me a 03 Aero (as far as I'm concerned) is the pinnacle of comfort, performance and style. It's twice as roomy, twice as fast and four times more technologically advanced.
I imagine if you're coming from a Passat, you too, would be impressed with the overall package. Our friend, Russ, has been driving BMW's all his life so he expected a little more; hence the disappointment.
Saab does not make a 750 or S class equivalent and as such does not seek to compete in that market. If someone walked into a car company and said give me your best, your most expensive and they pull up in a 03 Aero - it becomes clear that they do not have vehicles that can compete with a Lexus GS, S class, or 700 series from Bavarian Motor Works.
