You can get as offended as you want, but it still doesn't change the fact that I have 2 saabs that have been exclusively dealer serviced at the proper intervals, etc., and i get piss poor gas mileage on both in the city.
In the case of the '99, i had a brand new engine installed, and and the fuel economy is roughly what the old engine achieved. I use quality gas, have no smoke, and as a matter of fact, the 13.8 figure is on an engine with a brand new turbo.
Either all three engines are POS's, my dealer is incredibly incompetent to the point they should be shut down, or someone is not telling the truth. My assumption is that people who are incredibly in love with their cars will fudge their numbers due to the saab goggles. The fact that others have stepped in and reported low numbers steers me in this direction as well. My brother claims to get 20+ in town in his jeep grand cherokee . . .
Don't get me wrong--i'm not *complaining* about the gas mileage--i'm just trying to be honest about the realities of what kind of mileage these things will get if you do 2 x 10 min. stop and go trips per day. I would expect this kind of consumption for a 4000 lb hunk of metal.
If I didn't like the car(s), I wouldn't have bought 2 of them, and i wouldn't tolerate them being in the shop as much as they are.
