My aunt asked her doctor the same question. Her Doctor happens to be the same doctor who operated on Tiger Woods. The Doctor said he would not get the surgery himself. So she opted not to get the surgery.
There are known problems that commonly occur with lasik surgery. Halows around objects at night, tunnel vision, who knows what will happen down the road? I would hold off if I were you. If most doctors are not willing to have the procedure done then the operation is not worth it.
Good luck,
Rich
