Glasses is the best. It reduces dry eye complaints, is better for near sighted people and can delay the need for bifocals (compared to contact lens), provides some protection against injury (no joke).
Special contact lens are better than glasses only for uncommon conditions, like keratoconus.
Lasik is a lousy choice UNLESS you want the "no glasses" look AND hate/cannot tolerate contacts. If you can tolerate contacts, that's better, in my opinion.
Ophthalmologists are M.D. who go to medical school and know how to do eye surgery. Optometrist do not go to medical school and are prohibited from doing surgery, including laser surgery, because they aren't trained. Optometrist try to fool people by calling themselves "optometric physician" but they are no more a physician than a rug doctor or a Saab doctor. This is not to say they are evil as optometrists are trained to do contact lenses and glasses and deal with normal eyes.
I used to be fooled by all these optical terms but I finally learned the difference between an ophthalmologist and optometrist and optician (one who bends glasses at the glasses store).
