I had Lasik done two weeks ago and absolutely love it. I rarely wore contacts (normally in the summer when doing outdoor activities) but got tired of wearing glasses. I really have no complaints. The new machines no longer create the night-time halo effect that many people complained of in the past. My only issue is that night driving is still a bit challenging (oncoming traffic and stop lights are very bright). It has improved considerably in the past couple of days and should be nonexistent in a month or two. I was told that I will still need reading glasses in about 10 years. No worries for me though - I'd rather have to wear reading glasses on occasion than glasses all the time. Out of habit, I still find myself reaching for my glasses when I wake up!
The surgery took ten minutes. I paid $2500 and I checked with people at work to get referrals. $2200-2800 seemed to be the going rate with all the doctors that I spoke with. Also, I had planned ahead and put the amount into a health care plan at work that pulls the money out pre-tax.
