i can't get lasik because i'm 25 and have horrible astigmatism. it's been stable for like 5 years but since it's so bad and i'm young, the docs worry i might get keratoconus later and so i cannot have the surgery for at least another 10 years while i wait for the risk to pass. whenever i see a new doc, i mention that i have really bad vision and they say "uh huh" thinking they've heard that a million times. then after my exam, they say "well.... uh.... that's some really bad astigmatism you've got there."

the contacts i currently have are the most comfortable i've ever had but my eyes still dry out and my vision goes to hell if it is windy out and i hate the fact that they have to be blue tinted and extend about 1mm beyond my iris (and are therefore very noticeable). i'm starting med school soon and i'm not looking forward to being forced to wear glasses once i get to residency due to comfort issues.
