I have a feeling that police officers may have their own impressions of the types of people, age, maturity and income levels, who drive certain brands of cars. Recently I passed a state trooper (in Tennessee) parked in the median who flashed his lights at me as I went by at about 15 mph over the speed limit. Don't know what, or whom, he was looking for but he could have easily pulled me over and written me up for speeding in our 2004 9-5 Aero, but instead he just gives me the message to slow down some. Two weeks ago a NC state trooper came up on my bumper as I was at 12 mph over the limit. Turns his lights on and proceeds to pull over into the slow lane to pull over a pickup going slower than me.
Maybe we do get some slack based upon their impressions of what type of person drives a Saab.
