It seems to be a thing with northern/Nordic type people. I used to love riding the mountain bike when it was cold and sticky enough (I didn't have studs). I tried to get out in my kayak yesterday but there was too much ice on the lake--it there's open water I'll go. In my home town on Lake Michigan, surfers go out year around. It's a way of thumbing your nose at winter I suppose, or at least keeping your sanity.
