The ABS light issues that you are seeing point to the beginning stages of failure of the controller module. If it's the typical Bosch module that most cars seem to use, then there is a well-documented failure of a solder joint on the circuit board which needs to be repaired.
I recently had this problem with my 2001 Audi A6 and had the module repaired and tested for a very low price by Automotive Scientific Inc. in Rogersville, TN. Their service was fabulous and the price crazy low; I bought the service on Ebay, and I am not connected with them in any way. Most difficult part of the repair on the Audi is getting to two of the six screws that hold the electronic controller to the hydraulic part of the brake system.
