Hi,

I am the proud new owner of a Saab Convertible (my first Saab but not my first convertible). I have had it for a week now and think it is quite a fun car to drive. The ride is a bit jarring occasionally on the Houston streets (which are AWFUL) but it is a "sports car" so I am used to that.

I do have a few questions for long time owners:

1) What do you use to clean the top and keep it in tip top condition
2) When the top comes down, part of the inside cover gets stuck in the convertible frame. I notice there is an elastic strip that runs up the inside of the top which seems to be a bit loose and assume this is the cause of the problem. Is this elastic strip easily changed and is it worth changing to stop the piece from getting stuck?
3) What type of oil is best in this car? Regular 10-30, 20-50 or a synthetic? Any particular brand people favor? I used Castrol in my Triumph but open to suggestions.
4) Any good tweaks that can improve performance, reduce cowl shake or make it handle better when out on the twisty roads.
5) Is the cd player supposed to be a 6 disc changer or was this an option? The user manual indicates (sort of) that it is a 6 disc but I cannot get the player to accept more than one disc no matter what I do.
6) Are the 17 inch wheels worth the upgrade (currently has 16).
7) The pixels on the display screen are missing, have gone dead. IS this a common problem (I think I read that it is) and is there a good solution? I saw a refurbed one on e-bay for $175 guaranteed for life, is that a worthwhile purchase? Is it hard to install?
8) Was there a center console option? the car seems a little light on storage in the cabin and I am wondering if there is something I can buy to increase it...

I have not yet really had it out on the open road but I have been enjoying the drive thus far. It is quirky and different, which I like a lot. Too many beemers and mercs on the road here already and it is nice to drive something that is a little different. It isn't the Jag XKR that I wanted but I think it is a great alternative.

Thanks for any and all input.

Kip
