Welcome... I had one of the cars you just bought and think you will like it. If you can find one of the mesh windscreens that go over the back seat and flip up behind the head rests you can drive way fast and have vey little turbulence. I'll answer a couple of your questions...
1) What do you use to clean the top and keep it in tip top condition
--Google Raggtopp and buy the cleaner an fabric protecor. Great suff.
3) What type of oil is best in this car? Regular 10-30, 20-50 or a synthetic? Any particular brand people favor? I used Castrol in my Triumph but open to suggestions.
I suggest synthetic only...Look in the owners manual for the weight. Saabs have a lot of oil for a 2 liter motor-- around 6 quarts. Synthetic can be changed at a 10,000+ mile intervals. I use Mobil but Castrol has a synthetic too. Synthetic is cheap insurance for your turbo.
4) Any good tweaks that can improve performance, reduce cowl shake or make it handle better when out on the twisty roads.
This model is extremely sensitive to tire balance and true/round wheels. I would start there... New shocks and struts may be needed if the miles are high.
5) Is the cd player supposed to be a 6 disc changer or was this an option? The user manual indicates (sort of) that it is a 6 disc but I cannot get the player to accept more than one disc no matter what I do.
Six disk changers are in the trunk...
6) Are the 17 inch wheels worth the upgrade (currently has 16).
If you think the ride is rough, stay away from 17" wheels it will handel better but at the expense of the ride. If you replace tires Yokohama makes a model w/ "520" in the name that will ride great on tnhis car.
8) Was there a center console option? the car seems a little light on storage in the cabin and I am wondering if there is something I can buy to increase it...
Must be an option...most have a console check out the vendor links on this site. (Wind screen may be there too--but a used windsceen would be fine.
I would run some "Chevron Techron" fuel injector cleaner thru it a couple of times in the next month and then once or twice a year after that...Costco has 4-packs.
Don't use fancy spark plugs use exactly what the manual calls for...They work better and are cheaper.
