'02 ARC wagon 3.0 V6 with 190K on the clock: Replaced the Turbo and yup, busted an exhaust manifold stud :(. My click-type torque wrench decided at that time to start slipping it's rachet and it was hard to tell slip from click! Spent a day trying to do blind brain surgery to get a pilot hole going but no luck, only minor drift into block. So I have to take the head out. I don't think the block hole is too damaged that's why I spent so much time on it. I've never gone this deep into the work before but I have WIS and have done front end and subframe bushes, and the like. I have a loud tappet sound I've located to the #2 exhaust area w/ a stethoscope and believe the front main(timing end) bearing seal is leaking oil. So If I'm diving this deep I want to replace those and do the T-belt (replaced about 70K ago along with Head rebuild..I was on my way to drop it off for replacement when it..yes..broke), thermostat and H2o pump while I'm there but I'm a little nervous about resetting the cam/crank timing on assembly. There are sparse videos/tutorials on the V6 3.0. Many thanks to FCP's T-belt replacement video!

I have an aftermarket SAAB T-belt tool kit and ample wrenches/sockets etc. I figure I can make a Counterstay tool for removing the main crank bolt to get at the seal.

Parts I have lined up on the bench:

1) Head, intake, exhaust manifold and valve cover gasket and bolt o-rings

2) New Head bolts

3) New Cam seals

4) Front(timing end) Main seal

5) Timing belt kit w/ new rollers and tensioner

6) H2o pump, thermostat and housing and gaskets

7) New Cam follower

......and new Torque wrench :)

Any advise or previous experience tips on this are gratefully welcomed. At this point specific questions I have are:

?--Do I need to rent/buy a Main Bearing Seal mounting tool like WIS notes?

?-- The T-belt tool has a red and green cam sprocket spacers. Is it self evident which to the front and back cams? Also a blue, J-shaped spacer of some kind, not sure what that is.

?-- Are the TDC markings on the cam and crank similar to those on 4cyl? I saw a video showing those alignment marks. Will I see similar on the B308?

?-- After removing the belt and tensioner roller, WIS calls for 'rotate crankshaft 60* BTDC". How do I KNOW it's 60*?

?-- OK to replace just a couple followers?

Thanks in advance All. With a little help from my friends here I'll go cautiously into the breech! And report back as this progresses.
