It do seems like some fresh oil trickling down from the crankshaft seal.
It is a bear to loosen that bolt since it is torqued to hell and back and then you need a puller to get the sprocket off.
From this angle, it looks like you are one tooth off on the crank. The groove in sprocket and the little indentation in timing cover should align. Which would put your earlier paint marks more inline with the upper tang.
