The bar bolted to crank sprocket should rest of something very solid. Not sure if leaning it up against the water pump is good enough or if the water pump housing could crack?
If you have a propane torch, maybe you can heat the bolt head and elongate the bolt slightly. It is the bolt head flange that bites against sprocket that stops it from turning, not so much the threads further in.
As Jimmy pointed out, there is a slight chance that the sprocket will rotated with bolt head and shear the key.
I have had old 900 engines cracking the crank pulley when removing the 30mm crank bolt because the bolt flange grabbed the pulley so much that it rotated with bolt.
