That looks normal to me.
The sealant I use on most engines are Loctite or Permatex 518
But GM have been using a grey silicon on their engines. When I do the V6 engine oil cooler I try to find a tube of Nissan silicone which seems to be the best out there.
Have you replaced the engine oil cooler yet? If not, I would suggest you get a new GM kit (P/N 93176626) and install so you don't have to dig your way in there again soon.
