Obviously there is a huge backstory here, and I'd love to buy you all beers and tell you the whole epic. Maybe at SOC in August :)
I really don't want to leave this job but people just reach a point where something has to change. I can't seem to change the situation in spite of trying all the appropriate channels, so I have to change myself. I know the big boss man thinks highly of me (just a few weeks ago I single-handedly saved him $20K on a big project, and I sent him to my indy mechanic for his 900, rescuing him from the dealer's highway robbery repair prices) but that doesn't mean much when my immediate supervisor thinks I'm somehow responsible for the hostility and verbal abuse that my co-worker is generating. The manager is out today, but I know she got my e-mail from yesterday in which I reported the situation, and I'm sure we'll discuss it on Monday. So I'll keep you posted.
Thanks all for the support and advice! It brightened an otherwise stressful day.
