Humans are the only species that are able to consciously and willfully change their environment. Humans have been busy making things "better" for themselves for millions of years, and especially in the past 60,000 years since modern humans (homo sapiens) left Africa.
We've busily driven many other species to extinction and once we learned how to make machines have done a fine job of damaging the environment.
IMHO, too many people are skeptical of the media (with justification!) and its reports of climate change, but write it off as normal rather than go look at the real science behind the reports. When you do that you get a different view, but what is clear is that human activity is a change agent. Our actions may only be part of what would happen anyway, but that doesn't mean climatic changes can be ignored.
