Even if you think that all environmental groups are determined to destroy your God-given right to an sacrifice-free life, there are a few absolute realities in place. At least I hope that these are absolutes, if not, I'm sure someone will correct me.
1. The USA uses a lot of oil. Probably more per capita than any other country, and we're a large country.
2. The USA needs to import most of the oil that it consumes.
3. The Middle East produces a significant portion of the oil that is exported throughout the world.
4. There are many groups in the Middle East that receive significant revenue from oil exports.
5. Many of these groups consider the USA their enemy, or the enemy of their friends, or the friend of their enemies.
6. The USA went to war with Iraq (a Middle-Eastern country which at that time had significant oil revenues), a country that it conceived as a threat, because of expensive weapons and power that it may or may not have had.
7. President Bush yesterday informed the USA that there is still much work to do in Iraq, that requires sacrifices from all of us.
8. Over 3,000 brave men and women have died from combat in Iraq, tens-of-thousands more have been seriously debilitated, hundreds-of-thousands families have had their lives turned upside down because of this war.
9. Other than these families, the only "sacrifices" that most of the rest of us are experiencing is the massive debt (current spending, and future spending to take car of all these damaged veterans), which we'll primarily be passing on to our children.
10. Every patriot in the USA should be pushing to lessen our dependence upon fossil fuels, for this generation and future generations.
