At slow speeds this is minimal but danger from slippage is also minimal at that speed. At higher speeds minimizing the slippage from the rear whipping effect stabilizes car best in my understanding.
So basically, never wait until tiers r bald but also it's pretty damn good idea not to put near bald tires in the rear for our front heavy torquey Saabs that l like to speed out of a corner. Especially when roads r slippery driving on curvy highways.
