JS,
Saab was the 1st maker to turbo-charge a MASS-PRODUCTION car. You may want lurking for F1 videos of '77-79 GPs. Nobody called Renault (they brought turbo-charging into F1) then other than 'yellow kettles' - and know why? They loved blowing up, which was very spectacular for a Grand Prix (aka Grand Circus), but such approach to reliability didn't fit well for a mass-production road car.
Yep, before 99T there were 2002t, Porsche and Chevi/Olds, but these came in a limited batches and can't be considered being the mass-production cars.
Saab EV can no longer be considered being EV pioneer as it was with 99T (well, at least there's Tesla from sunny Cali and Leaf from Nissan and lots of EVs from Renault), but I agree with Snow James Mobile that it can be said that history repeats itself (well, may turn out to repeat itself if NEVS succeeds, fingers x'd).
Zig
P.S.
Btw, does anybody remember where the waste-gate solution/design came from? I don't have youtube link by my hand right now, but I can get back with that if needed.
