That sounds complicated. Do they use the same coolant?

The other question I would have is do they heat the batteries for use in winter? How do they fare in the cold?

I would have thought that if they have enough cooling needs, they would use it to heat the cabin... but I didn't expect there to be a whole lot of cooling capacity in that car.

I agree on the AC btw, that it should not be hard to do off of electricity. The only concern I had was the amount of power draw with the AC on draining the battery, but sounds like your wife uses the AC and has not noticed any particularly adverse results (sunny day = better mpg than rainy day)...
