I predict you are wrong. A few thousand $ for a new battery pack that should last at least 10 years is pretty cheap ! why wouldn't someone spend that to get another 10 years of ( almost ) free driving ?
What would you spend on gas ? I bet more for the miles driven !
( I have solar panels on my house that will charge the car lickedy split ! - they only draw 60 amps at 220 volts to charge at most
priced a re-built motor lately ? and EV are MUCH more simple & reliable than a gas car . very few systems and components to fail .
