I've been looking too. This question is a lot harder to answer if looking for a 9-5 wagon replacement. For whatever reasons, the manufacturers seem to do a terrible job on interior packaging. Sedans often have crush hinges and small trunk openings. SUVs and the few wagons rarely have seats that fold truly flat or result in smooth flat floor. Even minivans often lack a smooth flat floor (stow and go is as close as it gets, but that mechanism is flimsy). MPGs and often reliability are not great when things are a little better packaged, e.g., VW Atlas. Volvo reliability seems unproven, the cars are expensive for what they are, MPGs suffer from T6 and AWD, and my local dealers are hard to deal with. And manufacturers make odd design choices like the 1,000lb tow limit on the TourX or the 2,000lb on the current Volvo wagons. Then there are EVs which are interesting as second vehicle until I pondered how I would move the vehicle long distances even occasionally. And these often cannot be serviced at all dealers nationwide. Too bad the Chinese didn't just keep making and selling the 9-5. Would their revised version pass Western crash tests? The bottom line seems to be that if you mostly like the car you've driven for years, it's tough to find a replacement, especially when the industry has shifted its focus to the number of USB ports (other than similar vintage used).
