I'm still soldiering on with my old Saabs (daily driver 9000 will have 350k miles soon), but a few years ago we bought a 2017 Outback "Premium" for my better half. It's been good, has really needed nothing but normal maintenance so far in about 40k miles. No warranty repairs other than wiper blades. (Was very surprised those were covered but the dealer warranteed them on their own saying they were getting worn. We did get a factory extended warranty with the car.)

Downside is not much power from the 2.5, though the loud pedal still earns its name. Definitely not the quietest engine in the world. The radio is confusing and overcomplicated. I think the manual for the radio alone is something like 170 pages! One annoying aspect is the lack of a real file manager for USB drives. Filenames are not sorted and there is no concept of subdirectories. (You have to manually sort the FAT32 filesystem using a utility on a PC if you want files listed in alphabetical order.)

On the upside, gas mileage is very good, particularly for a 4WD wagon. The CVT is unobtrusive, closely mimics a conventional automatic transmission, and makes the most of the available power. The car is slow off the line but responsive once under way. AC and heater are strong and the heated seats get nice and toasty. HVAC controls are dedicated, not touchscreen. (I hate touchscreens. Not sure if the new 2020 models still have real controls.)
