This might be a bit left field but you might take a look at a Jeep Wrangler. It's comparable in size to the vehicles you're looking at but offers something none of them have--fun. They have a charm that's hard to describe (and hasn't worn off in the three years I've had one) and like Saabs are unlike anything else. In addition to being a comfortable all weather wagon, it's also a convertible and off road adventure vehicle. I get gas mileage very similar to my previous Subaru and Saabs and it's been totally bullet proof. But the stellar resale value is the frosting on the cake with Wranglers--it makes them incredibly cheap to own. I leased mine and decided to turn it in 9 months before the lease was up. I had gained enough equity (which no one does on a lease)to buy a new one with a lot more options and lower my lease payment by $30 a month. I guess they aren't for everyone but it might be worth driving one just for fun.
