comments thus far! Today, we test drove a Venza LTD and it is off of the list for various reasons. So it is down to:
1) 2015 Volvo XC60 FWD* with new 2Liter 302HP Drive-E engine with turbo AND supercharger.
Amazingly, Volvo offers a $1K loyalty discount to current Saab owners.
2) 2014 ACURA RDX V6 AWD or FWD* (My other car is a 2002 RSX Type S 6-speed, which i love)
3) 2014 Audi Q5 3.0T (Drove the 240HP 3.0TDI diesel and not impressed) This one is likely to be rejected because of cost and ownership cost.
*While AWD has been marketed as necessary here in New England, FWD meets our needs nicely. Our 2004 Saab 9-5 with TCS and Nokian WR G3s is unstoppable and the replacement candidates all have more ground clearance. Typically, FWD gets 1-2 MPG better city and highway mileage, weighs 125-175 pounds less giving faster acceleration, and costs $1250- $1630 less. And the Volvos with the exciting new Drive-E engine are only available in FWD for 2015.
