So, I got out the hoist and loosened up the left and right motor mount nuts under the mmount towers.
And then attempted to move the engine. As could be expected, there was no movement to make but tried nonetheless, then tightened everything down again and checked. Nope. No change.
The Tripod still sits where it was before, peeking out of the cup from the edge. Jeez.
Back to square one and hoping I hear back from some of the professionals tomorrow.
Just for Kicks, I see that the SOHC axleshafts available out there in crummy aftermarket variants are 22.44" over the OEM length of 21.93" for the DOHC engines. Yet, the tripods appear to be the same and specs show that these 8V SOHC shafts work all the way up to a 1989 900.
I'm thinking I may give one of these a go. I dont want to get shitty aftermarket, but it IS longer. In-fact the exact extra length that I need - a 1/2 inch.
