I dont' think SAAB should ignore the market necessarily- I just don't believe that those who choose to buy a SAAB previously, and that is a very small subset of all auto buyers, obviously, have certain priorities that don't match the SUV demographic.
But I do take issue with the assertion that SAAB has 'developed' an SUV. They have rebadged a Chevy. It's that act that makes the auto consumer cynical, and the SAAB lover disenchanted.
But, I'm with you in one respect. If folks want an SUV..and clearly they do....why not make/rebadge one in order to strengthen the divisions financials? As I mentioned before, the Cayenne move has worked well for Porsche. And having spent time reading the Porsche Club of America's publication for a few years, I can tell you that the hand wringing was even more pronounced among those enthusiasts!
