Autos are just too hard to drive; they confuse me. I have owned nothing but manuals but have occasion to drive autos. For whatever reason I automatically start left foot braking anytime I drive an auto. You wouldn't think that would be the case for someone who otherwise always right foot brakes. In fact, even in drivers Ed I fell naturally into left foot braking. The instructor was always telling me NO that isn't appropriate and also used the argument you never will be able to drive a manual if you get in the habit of left foot braking (suffice it to say he was off the mark on that part). I guess both my feet are used to having something to do.
I have never found myself to be more agressive with a manual over a similar auto. In fact, probably taught me NOT to roll through lights and stop signs like all those auto drivers as you pretty much might as well come to a complete stop if going for first or your really going to have blow it off to stay in another gear. Also I don't use the phone, eat, or drink perhaps as a result of the manuals. Instead I do what your supposed to do and just drive.
