I bought a 2 year old Subaru Legacy GT (pre-turbo in North America), was riding my bicycle to work as I only lived ~1 mile away, so this pristine car was just sitting in the garage; I decided to sell it to get rid of the car payment.

I figured I should have "something", just to have a car to drive, and a guy I used to work with was selling his Classic 900S. He only drove C900 Saabs, and was selling this one that he bought from the original owner because it was a non-turbo manual. His preference was for turbo automatics so when one popped up a week later he sold this one to me.

It took me a couple years to get past the "what a piece of $%^&" until I finally got rid of all the little annoying things, and started to realize it is an amazing car.

Since then I've had a 1993 9000 CS and currently have a 2000 9-5 LPT (first turbo car) and recently picked up a 2004 9-5 Arc, all 4 have been manuals, but I think the next 9-5 might be an auto.

When I bought the 9-5 I had 3 Saabs, and figured I had to get rid of at least 1, so I put for sale signs on all 3 and the regrettably the C900 sold immediately, followed a year later by the 9000 (w/265,000 miles). I got my money's worth out of both cars.
