When I was a kid, my father was working at Saab Valmet in Finland. He was a material designer which meant that he would frequently travel abroad to visit different suppliers. One morning he got a ride to the airport in a special stretched C900 limo. We were looking at the car through the window and my mother said "I wonder if that's the Turbo Saab they talk about?".
At some later point dad got to use a C900 convertible from the factory for one weekend. I remember him demonstrating on a highway on-ramp what the turbo really meant.
When I was a student I never had much need for a personal car, but when our daughter was born my father-in-law got us a NG 900S. He's a long-time Saab nut and my wife spent her childhood weekends in the back seat of a green 99. When the Saab entered my life, in the words of the Swedish king, "it just said click". I was permanently hooked.
Three years ago we moved to California and of course we got us a Saab: a black 2000 9-3 SE. This summer we drove across the continent for a job on the east coast. Gotta love those Saab seats!
