I'll tell my story again, because it got deleted in the electronic snafu. I'm ineligible to win, however.

I had become vaguely familiar with Saabs as a high school student. I think I saw a few Sonetts and maybe a 99 or two. In college, one of my chemistry professors had a Citroen, which I thought was pretty wild looking, but he replaced it with a red '84 900 turbo. Everyone thought that car was quite cool. I never got to ride in it, though.

Fast forward to grad school. Our VW Rabbit was getting a bit long in the tooth, and we wanted something a bit safer. My wife suggested that we go over to Gibson Motor Company in Perrysville, IN, for my birthday to test drive a Saab. Um, OK.

Frank Gibson, who owned the dealership, was awesome. He let us drive a new '87 900 3-door, IIRC, then his early '80's 900 4-door with about 110K miles on the clock. He wanted us to see that these cars didn't wear out and get sloppy with age, and he was right. Both cars drove the same. Which is to say, tight and fun to drive. We saw a platinum blue 900 turbo 3-door in his showroom, with buffalo grey leather interior, and I was sure I heard angels singing.

Two years later, we had enough money scraped together to get a used '87 900S 3-door. Cirrus white with grey velour interior. We picked it up in St. Louis and had it serviced over the next 6 years by Frank. His dealership is gone now, but we loved hanging out there.
