Long before they got popular I had clients who got into them exclusively for financial reasons.
They also made sure to turn them over before needing any serious repairs came up.
Those folks were very proud of their financial successes.
I began giving some attention to EVs & their side-effects back then.
The biggest of the initial lot was simply that they are usually getting charged by power made by strongly polluting utilities given that wind & solar do not usually dominate that field.
But later it became evident that their batteries depend upon scarce elements which are indelicately obtained & produced most of the times.

Personally I have zero interest in owning an EV & will be glad to leave this world before a time comes to be forced into one.
Before closing I do wish to offer praise to Scott for having the solar capacity to charge his EV - sadly his situation is not the norm, especially for renters like ourselves.
