What is used to determine the knock, T7 ionization current measurement and its std sensitivity, modded sensitivity, what?
You are aware that std viggen pics up knocks? Does this mean that engineers at saab did not know how to do their job? The T7 sensitivity for knock in very very very early and in real life there is a looooooooooooong way from that to "real" knock. Just look at the values, fat A/F, very low timing together with the compression ratio an bhp output. There is now way it will knock with those settings, IF fuel is not real real real crap or you drive in sahara where abient temp is +50deg C and spank it there.
What Iam trying to say with this that if the same sensitivity is kept as the basis to determine THE TRUE MEASURE OF A TUNER you're in the woods. To make power you need to run with high boost, low timing and with fat A/F ratios, when you could do the same with less boost, less fuel and more timing. The problem with the first is that your EGTs will be higher, so will intake temps because you stress the turbo more, which of course leads to higher back pressures and lower VE.
so again what is the THE TRUE MEASURE OF A TUNER, the std knock sensitivy set limit or not? Just ask a turbo shop expert if the best way to make 400bhp out of B235R type engine with ~10deg advance in high rpm range.
