I'm curious about what viscocity oil you were using?
How old was the oil?
How many miles on the oil pump?
How many miles on the engine?
Last time the PCV system was serviced?
Did you have any oil gauges?
I find it hard to believe that the Mobil 1 is soully to blame for what happened. There have to be other factors that just aren't obvious. Perhaps a failed oil thermostat or the thermal load was simply too much for the oil cooler with the bad air flow of a dyno. I use Mobil 1 5W-40 (the serious stuff designed for diesels) in my 9-5 aero and an analysis of my used oil showed almost no wear in the engine over 4,000 miles. And it's not like I babied it, it was in the dead of summer and I took it drag racing several times.
