I have run M1 in all of my SAABs since '82. have never had a problem. I have a '97 9K stage 3 SQR...run M1 5-40. Wife has an '02 9-3 hot/auto with 92k on it....runs perfect, other than I had to replace the converterlock-up selenoid last week. The other 9k's my boys drive...1 at 120+k and the other at 170+k run perfect..no oil use between changes that range between 3k and 5k.....and they beat those things to death. So, there is a control.
I do find the discussion interesting though.
