SAAB recommends Mobil 1 therefore a great many saabs use mobil 1 - a great many saab engines sludge up and blow therefore Mobil 1 causes engines to sludge up and blow. like the blackout that happened after the kid kicked the telephone pole.
Where is the control group of saabs that have been weaned and raised on something else? And how do you factor in the 10,000 mi oil changes w/semi synthetic mobil 1 that the book recommended until the engines began to blow?
You need to compare cars that have spent their lives from early on with Casrol syn at 10,000 mi changes with SAABs that have spent their lives with Mobil 1 ACEA3 (full syn) at 10,000, and tell us what's inside them.
Odds are, any SAAB you open up spent its first 40000 miles nursing on semisyn w/10000 free oil changes.
I'm not saying one of you hasn't done that comparison - I've never opened up a SAAB engine, and I've just been told that even with no sludge on the bottom of the pan, my screen will probably be all clogged up. Maybe.
and all you racers: are you saying that when you strip down an engine using the oil you like it will look different from the one that used mobil 1 (of course you'd have to have had control over both cars throughout)
I really want to know - not just being pugilistic.
