How is it right, in the effort for the restaurant to protect their interests, for the restaurant to break the rules? So are you ok with leaving a fingerprint to protect their interests? What about if they asked for that DNA sample, would you? Last time I checked, I didn't hire the guy to look out for my interests. I've followed the rules, signed my card and have agreed to pay the amount due. If there's a question about the transaction they can call VISA for a Code 10. You are ok for a complete stranger to look over your full name, address, birthdate, drivers license number, etc and TRUST that they will not do anything bad with that information? I'm not, I don't trust that person. That's how I protect my identity! How do you know that complete stranger didn't just get out of jail for fraud and is looking for information? Look up a practice called "skimming" - where does it usually occur? Restaurants of all places! But your right, I can pick and choose where to shop, and I do. If someone is going to give me a hard time about nonsense, I will shop someplace else. I don't shop at a regional grocery store just for that reason, I now go to their competition. And guess what, they just closed down a couple of months ago! Surprise surprise!
