They actually could. I mean geez what did we do before credit cards? But due to human conditioning most would not return with their business because of the inconvenience of having to do so in cash! CCs have obvious advantages and conveniences.
Which is my point. Within the structure and policies governing CC legislation and practices a basic and simple right was given to the CC user (Original Poster) which allowed him or any CC user to "just say no" to specific conditions while utilizing their product. "ID not required for sale"
"rude and abusive" was how his behavior was described in your post and referred to the damage he is/has caused the seller. You obviously are quite aware of CC legislation and its impact on merchants and consumers alike. It was WHY you labeled the gentleman the adjectives above and not the monopoly you speak of with such passion that through politics/legislation has been allowed to do the same in the interest of capitalism.
The CC companies gave him this right and he simply exercised it. I think what surprised me was that he may have expected a bit more sympathetic response to his venting. Certainly not to be thrashed on occasion about being trivial.
So let's agree to disagree and just get back to Saabs, or a BBQ grill, or any topic we choose and enjoy the board for what its meant for.
