1. We already discussed price--when comparably equipped the Volt is cheaper.
2. The non plug-in Prius price is irrelevant. You're continually tried to compare them as though somehow you can get the same thing for half the price when they aren't remotely the same thing=total BS. The only real comparison is with the Prius plugin.
3.Volt has the best battery range x3. It's warrantied to 8 years and 100K. Unless longevity is an issue, and there's no evidence it is, it at least seems like the best battery in terms of function.
4.Non-plugins can't be charged from the grid? Gee you think? We're discussing plugins.
5.The Volt is rated at 37mpg combined, the Prius 50mpg. Obviously not as good but hardly "atrocious." The 38 (verses 11) miles it can go in pure electric mode is it's asset. The average commute in this country is 16 miles one way. So the Volt can cover the average commute on electric only--hardly a "narrow window" as you assert. If you have a longer commute you might have the run on gasoline for a few miles. I will concede that if you have an inordinately long commute it might not be the car for you.
