Yup, we are spoiled by Saab's excellent hatch designs. The 9-5 wagon's rear visibility is actually better than that of most sedans on the market in recent years.
I actually found the MDX out-handle the 328xi GT in fast corners, especially if you go fast and accelerate through the corners. It's exactly the same thing that made X6 such a huge success upon debut: Torque Vectoring AWD pared up with sufficient power and a good chasis to begin with. With the cancellation of ZDX in its line up, Acura has really made this new generation of MDX take on many aspects of the ZDX' driving dynamics (lighter and lower), plus the additional benefit of good gas mileage when coasting on half the cylinders during highway cruise (hit another 30mpg average during a 50 mile drive tonight; last tank refill calculated to 28.7mpg). ZDX actually beat the X6 in reviews, but Acura simply did not have the marque value to charge that kind of money for a relatively frivolous car with reduced utility. Now the new MDX packs the utility and still weighs 100lbs lighter than the ZDX and 400lbs lighter than the comparable X6.
It's actually tantalizing to think how things could have been if Saab 9-4X had been given a real chance in the market place, with the proper consumer assurance and warranty/financial support for the product. The engineering department was definitely onto something with the Torque Vectoring AWD feature.
