That's our biggest challenge around here, and it rules out many brands for us, especially on the lower end of the price range. Eg Mazdas are just hopeless when it comes to rust. Subarus are not great but not terrible when it comes to rust. They are very popular here (good in snow), but even my Suby lemming friends are dumping Foresters for other Suby models. I'm interested to hear more about how they like the crosstrek. Too small for us, but I wonder if they got the handling more like an Impreza or more like a forester.
Our 2004 9-5 still feels pretty new. I'd certainly rather drive it than most new cars.
