When the 2nd and 3rd row seats are folded, the space above the flat loading floor is significantly more than that of the 9-5 wagon (rated for 72cf), either slightly more or comparable to the 2004 Highlander (rated for 81cf). The 2nd row legroom is significantly greater in the MDX, and very easily accessible, especially for my tools, etc.. That's probably where they found the extra 10 cuft.
If you want something bigger, a minivan, either Odyssey or Sienna, is probably a good idea. The idea of getting one of the GM triplets, which Norm doesn't even own anyway, for a 20% increase cargo capacity increase so one can drive a lumbering land whale on piss poor gas mileage everyday.
