I have to agree with all of the critics here. The only safe way to protect a safe space is to actually have a safe space. Anything less than a two second gap guarantees impact, four seconds is considered "reasonable" in many circles, and that is with strict attention, good vision beyond the tall SUV with darkened windows, and a good surface for braking handling, and then, of course, one has to consider the actions of the careless and selfish SOB who just got in close behind you. The closer the car behind, the more space one needs in front since one cannot afford a panic stop if one is being closely followed. I like speed maybe too much, but I want a lot of space to do it in.
