If you keep letting that happen, you'll put yourself at the end of a long line and you'll never get to where you're going, (or you'll have to move over into the non-passing lane and really get slowed down). Of course, back off to a safe distance if nobody else is around. I'm not sure where you guys live, but in Detroit the reality is, people drive crazily at high speed in dense traffic. You have to deal with it using a compromise of safety consciousness and practicality. People go 80 mph only 30 ft apart all the time here.
